Second-gen iPod Touch adds nothing to ereading

The new iPod Touch sports a rounded design and an external volume control.

Apple launched a new version of the iPod Touch this week. It has some nifty features like a volume control on the side of the player and a built-in speaker for sound in games etc.

For ereading the most glaring lack of functionality on the iPod Touch (vs for example the Palm T|X) is a brightness control. You still have to hit the Home button and go into Preferences to change brightness. I wish there was a way to move this into the front end design.

So no need for me to switch to the new version. But it looks cool, though.

Hi, I have just got the new version of IPOD touch. How can I add PDF and word documents? and also, which is the best application to read them?

Get the Stanza app for your ipod-touch. It’s very easy to adjust the screen brightness (drag your finger up or down). I adjust mine all the time to just the perfect brightness for the situation.

@Lee – good tip. But it won’t bring the screen to a lower brightness than what you get when you turn the brightness all the way down in the device settings. On my iPhone 2nd gen the brightness is way too high even at the lowest level.
